  • Updated Stripe integration to Stripe’s new payments API with Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) and 3D Secure

In today’s age of online credit card payments and processing, more and more standards and security measures are being put into effect to better protect the consumers and merchants. These standards are aimed at reducing fraud and further making online payments more secure.

Limo Anywhere wants to make sure our customers are up-to-date with these standards and are able to take advantage of their benefits. We have updated our integration with Stripe to Stripe’s new payments API with SCA and 3D Secure. This update is for all users of Stripe as their gateway in Limo Anywhere.

If you are a Stripe user, please update your gateway to the new Stripe integration.

In order to Add Stripe as your payment gateway:

  1. Go to ‘My Office’
  2. Go to ‘Add-on Modules’
  3. Click ‘Add Gateway’
  4. Make sure Stripe is selected on “Type of Payment Gateway:”
  5. Click the button “Connect with Stripe”
  6. You will be redirected to Stripe and you can enter in your Stripe credentials
  7. Once entered, then you will be redirected to LA and Stripe is now connected

Note: if you already have existing Stripe with previous integration, you will need to delete that existing Stripe gateway and add Stripe as new gateway to correctly connect Limo Anywhere to Stripe

What are the differences from this updated Stripe integration to the old?

The new updated Stripe integration will tokenize the Credit Card with Stripe. This means that any newly added Credit Cards or previously entered Credit Cards will need to be entered on the updated Stripe integration again so they can be tokenized and saved.

Once a Credit Card is tokenized with Stripe, then you can use that Credit Card for processing on the new Stripe integration as you normally do now today (Auth, Auth & Capture, Pr. Capture, Void, Credit).

When Adding a card on the new Stripe integration you will see a new form.

What is Strong Customer Authentication (SCA)?

Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) is a European regulatory requirement to reduce fraud and further make online payments more secure. Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) applies to online payments within Europe where both the business and the cardholder’s bank are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, and Switzerland.

Credit Card payments require a different user experience and flow, namely 3D Secure, in order to meet SCA requirements.

What is 3D Secure?

For extra fraud protection, 3D Secure requires customers to complete an additional verification step with the card issuer when paying with their Credit Card online. Typically, you direct the customer to an authentication page on their bank’s website, and they enter a password associated with the card or a code sent to their phone.

The Strong Customer Authentication regulation in Europe requires the use of 3D Secure for card payments. 3D Secure is optional in other regions but can still be used as a tool to reduce fraud and chargebacks.

Can I request payment information from my customer?

Yes, you can. In cases where the credit card is 3D Secure, you will need to request payment information in order for your customer to authorize the transaction.

You also can use this feature to securely capture the Credit Card # directly with ANY of your customers with Stripe online without having to take this information over the phone.
